What is Emergency Paediatric First Aid?

Emergency Paediatric First Aid (EPFA) is a one-day Ofqual-regulated qualification covering the essential emergency response skills for those working with infants and children. It is designed for childminders, teaching assistants, after-school club staff, and others who need a recognised paediatric first aid qualification but do not require the full two-day Paediatric First Aid course.

The course meets Ofsted requirements for registered childminders and is accepted as evidence of paediatric first aid competency in many early years and childcare settings.

Who is this course for?

EPFA is designed for anyone working with or caring for infants and children who needs a recognised qualification. Typical delegates include:

  • Registered childminders (meets Ofsted requirements)
  • Teaching assistants and school support staff
  • After-school and holiday club staff
  • Nannies and au pairs
  • Sports coaches and activity leaders working with children
  • Foster carers and residential care staff
